Park Ji-sung nominated as ‘best midfielder’ by FIFA


 Korean national team captain Park Ji-sung, 29, has become the highest rated midfielder currently participating at the World Cup finals.
 The Manchester United player, who played against Argentina and Greece, topped the list of the best 11 midfielders chosen by game analysts of FIFA, the organizer of the World Cup on June 17. The football federation gave Park a high rating of 9.06, recognizing his knuckle shot in the game against Greece although he failed to prevent his team from losing 4-1 to Argentina last Thursday.
 With the goal, Park has scored a goal for in three consecutive World Cups. Park’s rating is higher than those of world-class midfielders such as Thomas Müller (Germany, 8.89), Steven Gerrard (England, 8.71) and Daniele De Rossi (Italy, 8.74), ranking Park amongst the top players in the world. 
 Meanwhile, Dirk Kuyt of the Dutch and Jean Beausejour of the Chilean team were selected as the best attackers for their goals in their respective games. Along with German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, Gregory van der Wiel (Netherlands), Antolín Alcaraz (Paraguay), Waldo Ponce (Chile) and Gabriel Heinze (Argentina) were nominated as the top defenders.
